So many people give us a call when they have no idea how to get started. After they’ve made an appointment we send a specialist to their home and they’ll sit down for a chat with the homeowner. We like to go over all the project details so our customers know what they’re letting themselves in for, but they usually have a few questions and we will look at them today because you will find them useful.
Question 1 –How long will it take to complete a major project?
This is one of the most common questions we’re asked, and it’s normal for people to want everything completed as quickly as possible. You don’t want workers in your home for months on end just because they are far too keen on taking coffee breaks every 5 minutes. I honestly can’t give you a concrete answer as everything will depend on the work we need to do, but I can tell you the majority of our larger bathroom and kitchen renovation projects take between 2 and 3 weeks.
Question 2 –How long will it take to complete a minor project?
There is a massive difference between a major project and a minor project, but a lot of the smaller ones can still add up. They might include things like replacing the cabinet doors in your bathrooms or ripping your kitchen countertop out to replace with a new one. If we really only need to carry out simple tasks we should be out of your way in less than a week. This might change if anything gets in our way, but it’s a good timeframe to work with.
Question 3 –Can you add an extension onto our home?
Moving into a new home can be tough as it will end up costing you a lot of money, which is only fine if you’ve got it to throw away. Realistically it’s much easier to add an extension onto your current home, and we can sort that out for you too. It’s pointless even trying to give you an estimate of how long it will take to build because there are so many factors that go into it. You only need to know it’s something we can absolutely do.
Question 4 –What will you do when we ask for an extension?
You can’t randomly add an extension onto a home, as I’m sure you already know. Even if you think your extension would look great in a certain place, it might not be possible due to the structure of your home. We will have our specialist go over everything with you and together you’ll be able to find a solution. After you’ve decided on where you want the extension one of our engineers will add it to a blue print and you’re one step closer to it being a reality.
Question 5 –Are there any legal things we need to worry about?
You don’t need to worry about any legal issues, but you certainly have to address them before we can start building your extension. We will check with the planning department to make sure there are no limitations before we come up with the final blueprint. You can then use the blueprint to send to the planning department for approval, and remember we do pull permits on all construction projects. Once they’ve given you the all clear you’ll be ready to go.
