The top places everyone should carry out a mold initial inspection
Especially if they want to catch a problem early and save lots of money in the process.
One of the hardest things about dealing with mold is catching it early. No matter what condition your home is in, we’ll certainly be able to restore it to its former glory. With that being said, although Dryfast will carry out a mold initial inspection when we visit your home we still prefer when you do it yourself on a regular basis. Testing for mold in your home will help you catch it early and it will make everyone’s life easier. In order to do that you’ll need to know a few mold inspection spots, so let’s look at where it usually grows.
• Near Air Conditioning Units
• Under Kitchen Appliances
• In Recently Flooded Areas
• Behind Walls With Plumbing
• Around Leaking Windows
Near Air Conditioning Units
You can’t live without air conditioning units in the summer months depending on where you live. The reason the areas around your units should be one of the first places on your mold initial inspection list is because they leak. Even if you don’t have a very old unit you can still end up with a lot of water on the floor around it.
We don’t know where your air conditioning units live, but if the water was to fall down and accumulate in an area not visible as you go about your daily business you might not find it until it’s too late.
Under Kitchen Appliances
Your kitchen appliances are similar to your air conditioning units except they’re a hundred times worse. They are worse because depending on the appliance they could overflow or have leaking pipes. Мore importantly they’re a lot more difficult to move.
The mold will start to grow underneath the appliances, so when it’s time to carry out the mold initial inspection and testing you’ll have to move heavy refrigerators and washing machines around. Unfortunately it’s a necessary evil that must be done to spot or prevent mold.
In Recently Flooded Areas
Mold loves to grow in gloomy and damp places, so if you’ve recently suffered from flooding in your attic or basement there could be mold growing as we speak. It’s even more likely if you didn’t hire any of the local mold inspection companies such as Dryfast to extract the water from the problem areas correctly.
You only need a little dampness for somewhere to turn into a breeding ground for mold. If you have been flooded in the recent past you should go back and check the area on a regular basis. In doing so you could save yourself thousands of dollars.
Behind Walls With Plumbing
You might be wondering why we’re only talking about walls with plumbing, but don’t mistake it to mean mold can’t grow behind any walls inside your home. If there is a damp patch on your wall you will need to get it seen to straight away.
The only reason it’s important to check the walls with plumbing behind them is because you’ll be much more likely to have water sitting there due to burst pipes, and it means you won’t have to walk around inspecting every single wall inside your home. I’m sure you can imagine how long it would take you to do that.
Around Leaking Windows
Everyone always has one leaking window in their home they’ve always been meaning to get fixed. When it rains you can see the water coming in and you clean it up. But what happens when you’re not around and the puddle ends up running down your wall and onto your carpet?
If you’re really unlucky you could have multiple leaking windows. Although they’re expensive to fix you don’t want to add the cost of mold remediation on top of it. The easiest way to stop that apart from cleaning up the puddles of water when it rains is to inspect the areas regularly.
