San Jose crawl space clean up.
We were called by a resident who had a terrible smell in her house and could not determine where it came from. Our Project Manager and his Technicians, began the task of finding out where the smell was coming from. They started within the house and went from room to room, but the smell was fairly consistent all throughout the inside of the home. After further investigation, it was determined that there was contaminated standing water under the home, in the crawl space. The source being a leak from a drain line in the homes bathroom.
Lastly, the area under the home is inspected and determined to be dry, ending the back and forth process getting in and out of the crawl space. Resident noticed the smell was gone, another satisfied customer!!
Technicians again make their way under the home, this time with new organic soil, to replace the soil that was removed.
Once the area is deemed dry, our technicians went back under the home to begin the spraying down of all affected areas with an anti-microbial solution.
The dig out begins!! The technicians dig out as much contaminated soil as possible, again having to take it from under the home, through the closet and outside of the home. After this is completed, technician’s set-up the appropriate drying equipment under the home to dry out the remaining soil and wood foundation and framework. This is done following all IICRC guidelines as directed in the Drying of a Confined Space. As the drying process is occurring, we go in regularly to check that there is no moisture in the crawl space, using sophisticated moisture reading equipment.
To get to the crawl space the technician had to go through the resident’s bedroom closet, to access the door to the crawl space. Carefully the bedroom area was taped off with a plastic barrier and the technician’s began to extract the contaminated water from underneath the home.
This is the contaminated soil that was under the house, causing the terrible smell inside the home. This came from a leak in the bathroom drain pipe. The leak was fixed and clean-up can begin.
