Occasionally things happen like, the overflow pipe develops a break and makes its way into your apartment. When this happens, we are called, DryFast and we respond within an hour!In this case the overflow pipe from the unit above broke and drained into the unit below. It leaked into the lower unit bathroom and adjacent closet.
The ceiling in this lower unit was removed to gain access to the damaged pipe, and to remove the wet drywall that was above the shower.
The damaged pipe was removed, and the affected ceiling area was dried out and then the pipe was replaced.
The metal structural frame was replaced, the area wiped down with an anti-microbial solution and then when it was ready, water resistant drywall was installed, patch and painted to bring the ceiling back to its original look.
Here you see the saturated carpet padding once the carpet was pulled back.
This was in the closet area. This padding was removed and the carpet dried out to reuse in the closet area.
The bathroom was setup for drying and dehumidifying so that it would remove the remaining moisture in the room.
In the closet, the baseboard trim was removed, the carpet lifted and dried.
After it is dried and new carpet padding is laid, the trim is replaced and the carpet laid back down.
